At AZ Irrigation & Maintenance we offer weekly and bi-weekly lawn mowing services in Flagstaff & Sedona. We recommend weekly lawn mowing service which is our most popular service, but we also offer bi-weekly lawn mowing services. So you can decide which option is best for you.

 Weekly Lawn Mowing Service

AZ Irrigation & Maintenance has been providing lawn mowing service in the Flagstaff & Sedona Arizona area since 2012. Our weekly lawn mowing service is the recommended and most popular service because you get the best results and a healthy green lawn. For weekly lawn mowing service we mulch the clippings into the grass as this is healthier for the lawn. Grass clippings are mainly made up of water and actually contains nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium that are found in fertilizer. Mulch mowing can provide one-third of the annual fertilization needs of your lawn each year and does not contribute to excessive thatch build up when mowed weekly.

Weekly Mowing Schedule - You will receive 2 cuts in April, 2 in October then every week from May thru the end of September. That's a total of 26 mow, trim and blows per year.

 Bi-Weekly Lawn Mowing Service

We offer bi-weekly lawn mowing services for our clients that are interested in our less frequent services due to budget, lack of irrigation or drought. Bi-weekly lawn service lends itself to common issues like uneven cuts and excessive grass clippings that cause thatch build up which could be avoided by choosing our weekly lawn service. You can decide which service is best for you and can change from one service to another at any time.

Bi-weekly Mowing Schedule - You will receive 2 cuts starting in April, then every other week till the end of October. Occasionally there will be three mow, trim blows in month due to the service being performed on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd of the month.

 Cutting Grass, The Right Way!

Cutting your lawn really short, is not doing it any favors. Surface roots become exposed, the soil dries out faster and surface aeration is reduced. As a general rule, you should not cut off more than one-third of the grass at any one time. Most turf grass species are healthiest when kept between 2.5 and 3.5" tall. When your grass thrives it naturally helps reduce weeds.

What Mowing Frequency Should I Choose?

A general rule of thumb is not to remove more than one-third of the total leaf surface when mowing your lawn. This may require mowing every four to five days during rapid growth in the spring. Higher cutting heights allow more time between mowing cycles. This is desirable during periods of rapid growth. Removing more than one-third of total leaf surface can severely injure the grass plant by decreasing its ability to support its underground portions. For these reasons we recommend weekly lawn mowing services.

 Managing Grass Clippings

It is best to return clippings to the lawn whenever possible. When the lawn is mowed so that less than one-third of the total leaf surface is removed, grass clippings can easily be returned to the lawn. Excessive accumulation of clippings from infrequent mowing may smother the turf and should be removed. A common misconception is that clippings left on the lawn will promote thatch buildup. This is not true. Clippings do not make significant contributions to thatch and should be returned to the lawn whenever possible. These leaves contain mostly water and break down rapidly, releasing nutrients back into the system. Returning grass clippings means that nitrogen applications can be reduced by as much as 1 pound per 1,000 square feet per year.
